Teachers of English, French, Italian,
and the sciences, your hosts Maria and Leon Martin have decorated
their home to reflect their
travels to Europe and the Orient,
as well as their time spent living in Canada's North. Watercolour
prints
(by Canadian artist Brian Middleton), international posters, handcrafted
furniture, floral and Native touches will greet you in every room.
If you ask, Leon will even regale you with stories of the Northwest
Territories, or his current passion, our "gardens-in-progress" (designed
by renowned Canadian landscape architect, Wayne Renaud), which
will provide the perfect backdrop for your outdoor breakfast, read,
or
nap.
In March of 2001, Maria and Leon adopted Antonia Genevieve Elizabeth
from Guatemala. Born December 9, 1999, Antonia has filled Monticello
with her own charm that guests have found delightful. If her papa
is not entertaining you with stories of his travels, Antonia may
sing you a song or two in English or Italian! We love children and
welcome yours. Please call ahead to make any special arrangements
required for them.
